What to expect from a post coronavirus and lockdown wedding
After months and even in some cases, years of planning your big day, the current climate of the world means your wedding may well look very different to that of which you had originally planned. All the finer details that you spent hours deciding on, have suddenly become less significant.
What’s important now and how will you plan for your wedding in 2020 and beyond?
The lavish wedding and the post ceremony gathering have all had to be reconsidered and on many occasions, couples have decided to completely abandon their wedding until a time where things are back to ‘normal’. Planning a date in the future seems hard for many with indefinite regionalized outbreaks and spikes in the midst.
New York became one of the first US states to legalise video wedding ceremonies. Suddenly getting married became a thing of the present and not a distant wish. Holding the ceremony online means that not only can you have the officiant you want (wherever they may be), but you can also invite unlimited guests to view you during the process, meaning the world has become a big place again! All those relatives and friends across the globe that may not have been able to get to enjoy the event with you, now have the ability to view the wedding and be part of it’s history at the touch of a button.
Dress to impress
Holding your wedding online means that your guests still have the ability to dress to impress. Making sure they aren’t outdone by other guest, all they need to do now is make sure they are dressed to the nines from the waist up (just remember, no standing until it’s over!). A virtual wedding doesn’t mean that you can’t have fun :)
Socially distanced
There is an alternative of course - have the wedding alone with just you and your partner there to experience the big day. Many couples have realised the importance of tying the knot and that quite often, it doesn’t have to involve anyone else (other than a witness). The purity of getting married because you want to and the simplicity of doing this alone has been key to many New York ceremonies.
Money, money, money
To plan and organise your wedding, for some is a key event of life and one that will take huge focus. For others, the idea of getting married is enough and the idea of an online or socially distanced wedding means that not only do you cut down the organisation time, you save a lot of dollars too!
