Our top tips to planning your New York wedding
It’s never been a more popular time for an elopement wedding. With so many couples having wedding plans postponed, altered or cancelled, 2022 sees the rise of couples eloping to get married. What could be more magical than a wedding in New York? Here are some tips from us on how to make this dream come true.
#1 - Set your travel plans
What time of year will you get married?
Where in New York would you like the ceremony to take place?
Will you be taking any guests with you?
Once you have a better idea of where and when you want to get married, you can very quickly start to drill down on the finer details of the day. Make sure to consider things like; where will the photographs be taken? Where will we go for your wedding day preparations? Will there be an after ceremony party or wedding breakfast? If you decide to go it alone, then always make sure you speak to your loved ones and explain the reasoning behind your decision. It’s your special day and making sure you are happy is key!
#2 Get it booked!
Flights
Accommodation
Decided on where and when? The next (big) step is to get it booked! Whether you chose to use a travel agent or do it yourself, the flights and accommodation are super important to secure. With all that’s happened in the world and with ever changing travel plans, we would highly recommend you speak to a travel professional about your plans but of course there are many options out there for you to consider. Travel insurance is a key and make sure you do your homework on this, be sure to get the level of cover you need for the trip. New York is a hugely popular tourist destination all year round. That said, you will find options to suit all budgets. Make sure to research well and work out exactly what you want to see and do while you are in the city.
#3 The wedding ceremony
Wedding celebrant
Wedding venue
If you chose to book a wedding venue for your big day, you may well find that you get a wedding planner included in the cost of the wedding. If not, then this is certainly something you could look to add on. If you are looking for a low key wedding and don’t want a ‘venue’ for the ceremony then you could book a wedding celebrant who will be licensed to marry you in and around the city. The biggest question is where? You could pick the hustle and bustle of Times Square or the serenity of Central Park, whichever you chose, your celebrant will be able to answer any questions you may have. #The wedding after party
If you are planning a wedding in a venue then you may chose to stay at the venue for the post wedding celebrations? You might on the other hand be planning a smaller affair that means you will need to look for a restaurant or attraction to visit for the chance of photographs and celebrations directly following on from the wedding ceremony itself. The sky really is the limit and this is a good opportunity to visit multiple places in order to capture photo’s and to make many new memories.
There are options to suit all budgets and appetites for the unusual. From simple restaurant bookings, river cruises, views from iconic buildings to soaking up the atmosphere in one of the cities main tourist hubs. The options are endless and this could well be one area of the day that you want to take time in researching.
The biggest tip of all - ENJOY YOURSELF! This is your big day, your dream wedding - make sure it ticks all the boxes you want it to!
