Top tips for a summer wedding
Summer weddings are the popular choice. The opportunity to have an outdoor ceremony, endless decorative options and an even bigger choice of venues for the big day. If you are planning to hold your special day during the summer then we have some top tips for you to consider.
#1 - In touch with nature
Holding your wedding in the summer lends itself really well to using natural elements in your design and detail for the big day. Using leaves, flowers, feathers and other natural materials will give you a summery feel. Using nature in your surroundings is also a cost effective way to make an impact. Highlight trees with twinkly lights, hang lanterns where possible, even source some chimes for another sensory addition to the day.
Back to basics make-up, fresh faced and a natural glow complexion also gives a feel of summer. Not only is this in keeping with the season but it also allows you to feel comfortable and relaxed. Avoid the over made up complexion to end worrying about running mascara or foundation.
Make sure your photographer knows where and when the best places to capture your photos is. Summer can play havoc with lighting so make sure to plan for your pictures in advance.
#2 Fun in the sun
If you are lucky enough to hold your after party at an outdoor venue or even with a venue that has indoor space, think about adding some games to the itinerary.
Simple classics like tick tack toe, quoits and croquet are all great examples of bringing people together to have fun. Make sure to set teams up and introduce some light competition to get the crowd excited.
This is also a great opportunity to introduce social media - maybe even an Instagram frame for the winners?
#3 Comfort is key
Whilst a summer wedding is great in many ways, always be mindful of yours and your guests comfort, especially if you have a particularly long day planned.
Make sure to purposely add rest breaks as an opportunity for guests to take time out and refresh, making sure they keep hydrated and cool wherever possible.
If you are branding gifts for your guests, think about water bottles, fans and even hats as a way of adding to the comfort of those in attendance.
#4 Good excuse to use colour
If you are planning on wow factor for your wedding, summer is a great season to create a delight to the eye with an array of bold and beautiful summery colors. Using block color or bold print, make a mark with your wedding day theme and your guests will definitely not be disappointed.
Think about adding a dress code for guests and suggesting a certain color pallette. Have as much fun with this as you can! Great for a quirky photo opportunity!
